After 8 years on the West Coast, Anthony returned in early 2018 to open the latest iteration of his iconic pizza restaurant – Una Pizza Napoletana.

In Mangieri’s own words, his foundational view on pizza came from both his childhood in New York as well as his Neapolitan heritage.

Anthony Mangieri:

My family is from Naples, I was very influenced by going to Naples, visiting there with my mom and dad. That pizza just felt like it was for me, like it was mine.

At the same time I was very influenced by New York pizza, I loved Grimaldi’s, Totonno’s, John’s on Bleecker.

What makes a pie from Anthony Mangieri, an Una Pizza pie? Anthony explained that he wants “a pizza that looks really like it’s a piece of nature, the toppings look very alive, it has a lot of air in the corniccione, very uneven, very kind of wild looking.”

He admits that “this pizza that we make is kind of wacky looking, it has big bubbles – but it’s light, and super digestible.”
