Emily – Brooklyn
Built around an open kitchen setting with a beautifully wrapped Pavesi traditional brick oven, Chef Matt Hyland and wife Emily created an intimate space to serve up artisan pizzas in the Clinton Hill neighborhood of Brooklyn. Matt studied the art of pizza at Roberta’s and Sottocasa, which use the Pavesi brick oven and Acunto Neapolitan oven, respectively. After a few years tenure learning the craft, he sought out to open his own space with a wood fired menu featuring local ingredients and unpretentious atmosphere. With a menu featuring 13 pizzas divided into rosso and bianco, Emily also serves up an exceptionally decadent wood fired s’mores calzone, filled with chocolate, marshmallows and sprinkled with graham cracker crumbs. Emily has been featured in the New York Times and New York Magazine among other publications.
